Lots of options for very very good breakfast...

The rooms within the historical building have the generous dimension of the early days and the comfortable atmosphere of a privately owned Superior hotel. It felt like stepping into a time capsule, with a touch of luxury that made me feel like a character straight out of a classic movie.

Spacious rooms with high ceilings, had more character than modern hotels. Reception staff spoke very good English and were most helpful. We had a draught beer in the bar in the evening and we were given complimentary peanuts. The continental buffet style breakfast was very good and reasonably priced. The hotel was 5-10 minutes walk from the subway, and had a hop-on-hop-off tourist bus stop within 100 yards.

This hotel provides great value for money, with reasonable prices for a stay in such an excellent area. The attention to detail is evident, from the large and well-designed rooms to the basic amenities provided. The location in a posh and charming area near the university is perfect for exploring the city, as it is only a 20-minute walk to the city center and the Hallerstarsse metro station. One of the highlights is the view of a park-like green oasis with old trees, especially from the rooms with balconies. Additionally, the breakfast offered is satisfying and ensures a good start to the day.

As I was on business I found it difficult to work for a number of hours in the room without any facilities to make tea/coffee. The hotel had no restaurant and only a very small lobby area in which it was possible to buy some tea/coffee but too noisy to work comfortably there. This was a real draw-back for a business user. On the last morning of my trip when it was possible to have a later start, it was impossible to sleep longer because of cleaning/hoovering outside my room door. Small issues I know but with effect.
